INSTITUT FÜR KOMMUNIKATIONSSYSTEME UND -TECHNOLOGIEN - ein An-Institut der Ostfalia

IKT is an institute associated with Ostfalia - University of Applied Sciences, which specializes in the research and development of technologies and solutions for IP based communication services, networks and applications. This includes wired as well as mobile communication.

Currently our main topics are Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualisation (NFV). Our applications focus for these technologies are mainly Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) for Cloud-IT and Industrial Internet of Things (in Germany known by the term „Industrie 4.0“). Development, implementation and conformance as well as interoperability tests for communication protocols and network elements are part of our offering.

Before, we had our main focus on Voice-over-IP (VoIP) and Next Generation Networks (NGN), in particular on specialized applications of these technologies for railway related communications as well as critical communications.
