General information about the different study programs

The programs of studies offered at the Braunschweig/Wolfenbuettel University of Applied Sciences provides students with innovative, interdisciplinary and practice-related learning opportunities, devoted to developing a grasp and working knowledge of many of the complex topics challenging business and science professionals today as reflected by the job market and in accordance with the fast-paced ever-changing socio-political environment of our modern world. Hence, our graduates can be confident that after their studies, they will have an excellent chance of finding an adequate position.

The four year course of study is a full-time study program that can usually be completed in 8 semesters. The required exams are offered during the semester in connection with courses taken during that semester. The basic study portion comprises three semesters of theoretical lectures in which the foundations of a wide range of program-specific knowledge areas are treated. The basic studies conclude upon the successful completion of the intermediate exam. The main study portion offers a wide range of seminars and lectures which provide in -depth and detailed examination of topics relevant to the particular program of studies upon which the student has set his or her focus.

To this end, free and required elective courses are offered which allow the student to tailor the program to meet his or her individual career goals by selecting and combining lectures in accordance with their own particular needs and interests. Theoretical in-depth treatment and analysis is supplemented by laboratories, project work as well as practical internships (placements) in industry, in which theoretical knowledge can be applied in practical problem solving. The practical internships take place in the fifth and the eighth semester and offer students at the end of the main study program in the form of a final thesis the opportunity to document the experience they have gained both in the lecture hall and in industry.
