From the 21st to 31st of August, 20 water experts from Iran will be taking part in an expert visit in the District of Uelzen which has been organised by the Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences, Suderburg Campus. This visit is the result of a long-time cooperation between Sari University (Northern Iran) and Ostfalia, a cooperation that has included three summer academies in Suderburg and two excursions to Iran in the last 5 years. What all of these events have in common is the professional and cultural exchange between Iran and Germany. The Iranian participants of the expert visit include the president of Sari University as well as water management experts who are responsible for managing Iran’s very limited supply of water at the provincial level and supplying a sufficient amount of irrigation water. This is why the irrigation region around Uelzen was also selected as an excursion destination in Germany. In addition to visiting the irrigation region, the excursion will also include visits to dams in the Harz, Hitzacker’s flood protection, the Elbe Side Canal and the VW factory.
On Friday, the 26 th of August, a few companies are staging a small trade fair together with the university, in order to present various products from the water sector. The vice president of Ostfalia, Prof. Dr. Gert Bikker, will greet the participants in the university in Suderburg. The participants will enjoy an evening together with a barbecue dinner in the Erica Haus. Here, the mayor of Suderburg, Hans-Hermann Hoff, will welcome the guests.
Prof. Dr. Klaus Röttcher, who has organised the various German-Iranian meetings, hopes that the expert visit with participants from the fields of science, economics and administration will lead to an expansion in cooperation and new mutual areas of research.
