Round table: "Digitalisation within companies"

wito gmbh and Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences initiate collaboration around "digitalisation within companies" Round table involving companies held in Ilsede.

Digitisation is a central challenge for all businesses. It involves opportunities and risks. Without intensive technical information from universities and well-qualified employees, however, the risks prevail, however. wito's Managing Director, Günter Eckhardt, is sure of it.

Therefore, wito gmbh and Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences invited 5 companies from the district (Goy&Balke, Rausch Schokolade, Achat Engineering, Pawils Elektromaschinenbau, Fitesa Germany GmbH) to a round table event in Ilsede. There they met 5 Ostfalia professors from the fields of computer science, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering.

Gunter Eckhardt: "They were an exciting and fruitful 3 hours. The first project parts are distinctive in the areas of research, development and innovation." Everyone involved is clear, however, that the cooperation, projects and also the dual training courses will only have a lasting impact if they are long-term.

Prof Dr Gert Bikker, Ostfalia's Vice President for Research, Development and Technology Transfer, sees the joint initiative as "another important step for successful and intensive cooperation between companies, universities and economic-development bodies". As early as the spring, wito gmbh started up discussions and working meetings between Ostfalia and Weitkowitz from Peine, which have in the meantime led to collaborations.

Simon Goy, from the company Goy und Balke is convinced: "The meeting gave us a great insight into the possibilities presented by Ostfalia. Meeting face to face was very important. We are definitely going to have further discussions at the Wolfenbüttel site. I am particularly interested in the field of robotics – perhaps together we can get some research projects going."

Volker Barth from Pawils was especially impressed with the wide range of dual training programs on offer at Ostfalia. He's also like to have more detailed discussions, because it is clear that the challenges of digitisation can only be tackled with well-qualified staff. Barth: "The collaboration with Ostfalia opens up new perspectives for us, and Wolfenbüttel is just around the corner."

Kai Hillebrecht from Ostfalia's knowledge and technology department and wito's Managing Director Günter Eckhardt stressed: "This was not a closed shop – or a one-off event. Companies that likewise wish to establish contacts with Ostfalia are invited to contact us. Maybe we'll even get another round table arranged for the autumn!"
