Dublin 2017

Next Generation - All we do is win?!

The destination of the field trip in 2017 was Dublin. Under the motto “Next Generation – All we do is win?!”, received the team an insight into the youth support with regard to associations and organizations like the National Sports Campus. For example, at this campus were the Irish Olympic Handball Association, the Mountaineering Ireland, the Paralympics Ireland and the Sport Ireland Institute. Also the different associations explained, for example the Irish Olympic Handball Association, in which areas still problems exist, like acquiring junior players. We also went to an organization in Belfast, where young talented athletes were developed, regardless their sport or social background. Moreover, the team visited a rugby club and could watched them play. Next to the lectures, the team went to the Dublin Marathon and played bubble football.

In 2015 was the international excursion in Spain, esspacially Madrid. „Madrid - ¿Cómo se desarrollará la ciudad deportivamente en el futuro?“ was their motto and can be translated to „Madrid - how does the sports city devolve in the future?“ Sustainability, rivalry and taboos in sports were focused. Therefore they took a look on economical, ecological, political and social aspects. In example for the topic of sustainability, the students visited the tennis courts "La Caja Mágica". At least they were invited to the city hall  to get a foresight of the city and the projected sports complexes.

Moreover they got an impression on the varieties of the Scottish sport system. Next to this, the group figured out, if the challenges which await modern sports systems, also have an impact on Scotland. Edinburgh, Glasgow and the Highland Games were some of their objectives.
