On Saturday (13 June) and Sunday (14 June), visitors to the ForschungRegion e. V. community tent were able to get to know two different projects: on Saturday, Stefan Roth and Fabian Aust from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology presented what the interactive robots Robbi and Nao can do and delighted many visitors with the robots' interactions. Whether with handstands, air guitars or football games - Robbi and Nao won many fans. On Sunday, faculty colleagues Samira Nazemi and Shouqiang Yang took over and used an interactive simulation to show visitors how digital evidence from the smart home could help with police investigations.

Prof Dr Kirsten Wegner on autonomous driving in rural areas. In the transdisciplinary research project "SoFia - Safe autonomous cooperative driving in digitalised distribution logistics", an electronic vehicle management system based on artificial intelligence (AI) is being developed. This enables safe, automated and cooperative driving in distribution logistics.
Gabriella Roland on the topic of building automation. The KIGeBe project of the Faculty of Supply Engineering at Ostfalia is all about optimising existing building automation through the use of AI-based software agents. By analysing operating data and then independently adapting heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems with the help of AI agents, the aim is to save energy and thus reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Tom Lorenz and Kathrin Sophie Förster on the CompanionApp. The app is an innovative tool that was developed by employees from the Faculties of Social Work and Computer Science at Ostfalia together with people with intellectual disabilities and carers. Based on landmark training, the app marks distinctive orientation points in the environment and thus facilitates navigation without complex cognitive processes. The app will initially be used in museums and subsequently in many other contexts such as travelling to work, school or visiting friends. It could also be trialled with other target groups such as people with acquired brain injuries or progressive diseases such as dementia.
Samira Nazemi on the question "How can devices and data from the smart home be used to support investigative work in criminal cases?". Smart devices are increasingly being used in modern households. The SmartHome Forensics research project at Ostfalia is developing methods to reliably recognise, collect and analyse digital traces from these systems for forensic purposes.
Prof Dr Harald Rau on the question "What to do with waste? Or: A future for old plastic from the sea". The Revfin project at Ostfalia is a special example of interdisciplinary collaboration. An interdisciplinary team from the Institutes of Recycling and Media Management is working together with Vietnamese universities, institutes and companies. It aims to systematically reduce the pollution of Vietnamese coastal waters by old fishing nets and at the same time establish sustainable recycling structures.
