Whether relaxed at the food court, emotional on stage or dancing in the courtyard - the musical highlights at Ostfalia's Campus Day offer the right sound for every mood. Three acts stand out in particular.
Robin Kap: one-man band with a feel for the audience
Robin Kap will kick off the musical programme at 3:30 pm at the food court. The former business administration student at Ostfalia is now a full-time musician and travels throughout northern Germany. With a loop station and guitar, he brings well-known songs from Jonny Cash to the Backstreet Boys to the stage.
He has no fixed plan for his performance at the Campus Day: "I let the set come to me. I adapt depending on what people want to hear and what the mood is like." He always enjoys coming back to his old university: "It's nice to see new and old faces. And I always feel like I'm in good hands at Ostfalia."
Helge: Emotions between rock and acoustic
Helge Elbeshausen, frontman of the Braunschweig rock band Joking Aside and singer-songwriter, takes over at 4.30 pm. His music is characterised by emotions: "I try to make music that sometimes conveys joy, sometimes anger, sometimes love and sometimes sadness." At the Campus Day, he will play a mix of his own songs and newly interpreted cover songs.
Helge also studied at Ostfalia: Biological and Environmental Engineering and Automotive Engineering. "I have fond memories of that time. The people and also the hurdles you had to overcome here." For Campus Day, he is not only looking forward to his appearance, but also to the university programme: "It's always great to see how the projects, for example in robotics or energy technology, are developing."
DJ Fliesentisch: from the lecture theatre to the turntables
In the evening, the inner courtyard becomes a dance floor and DJ Fliesentisch provides the right sound from 9.30 pm. The man behind the name is Felix Mayer, who is studying electrical engineering at Ostfalia. All the songs he plays have to pass a test for him: "They have to put a mischievous smile on my face and at least my head, if not my whole body, has to be bobbing along." Performing at his own university is something special for him: "I'm pleased that I can give something back to Ostfalia that doesn't consist of money for coffee in the cafeteria or hastily compiled lab reports."
At 10.30 pm, it's time to call it a day in the courtyard. If you want to continue dancing into May afterwards, you can get free entry to the Eule/XO Club in Braunschweig with your Campus Day wristband.
