Can recycling really solve our resource problems? Or do we need to start much earlier – namely with the materials and design of our products? In this episode of “Einfach Forschung”, we discuss the limitations of recycling and why it cannot, on its own, be the solution to our resource management challenges.

Our guest, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Max Juraschek from the Institute for Recycling at the Ostfalia Campus in Wolfsburg, explains the role that new bio-based and renewable materials can play, and why we need to take a more holistic view of products across their entire life cycle: from manufacture through to use, right up to the question of what ultimately happens to them.
