Campus Salzgitter

Most of us picture Salzgitter as an industrial town. That’s right: The city is the third biggest industrial base in Lower Saxony with the biggest inland port in North Germany and the worldwide biggest Ikea-retail-to-store distribution. Global players such as MAN or Salzgitter AG have their place of business in Salzgitter just as well as numerous small and medium-sized businesses .

But there is more to the city with almost 100.000 inhabitants than that: historical buildings and art in public spheres, friendly residential areas amidst greenery and last but not least the water sports centre Salzgittersee, with a nearly two kilometre long sandy beach and outstanding water quality. Salzgittersee is an ideal recreation area for water freaks and beach babes, surfers and sunbathing addicts. The mixed forest Lichtenberge is home for mountain biker and wanderers, whereas fitness fans probably prefer the health resort Salzgitter-Bad with one of the strongest natural sole fountains in Germany .

If you expect the campus location within Salzgitter ’s industrial region you definitely are on the wrong track. The Karl-Scharfenberg Faculty is idyllically situated in a rebuilt headquater of a mine building company in the district Calbecht.
