Navigating Financial Markets and Institutions - A (European) Perspective on the evolution of a more sustainable monetary system

My course provides a fresh analysis of the European financial system. Combining theory, data and policy. The  course examines and explains financial markets, financial infrastructures, sustainable corporate finance, financial institutions,  the challenges of monetary policy and financial supervision. This ncludes considerations on how ESG  and SDG can be incorporated into the regulatory and supervisory framework.

The course features a brief discussion of the financial and euro crises and post-crisis reforms, but also new market developments like Sustainable Finance, SDG, ESG Investing, FinTech, block-chain, cryptocurrencies and shadow banking and unconventional or green monetary policies, the Banking Union, the Capital Markets Union, Brexit, the Basel 3 capital adequacy framework for sustainable banking supervision and macro-prudential policies.  The course will also include a case study with an emphasis on comparisons with countries outside the European Union, especially with focus on Asian countries and the conflict with China.

This course includes a two day exkursion to Fankfurt am Main, Germany's financial center.
