Ostfalia successful in research funding

Since 2015, the Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences has attracted the most funded research projects of the funding programme "Innovation by universities and research institutions" of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). With 29 funding applications entered and 17 approved, Ostfalia is currently the most successful university in Lower Saxony, followed by the University of Osnabrück and the Technical University of Braunschweig. This result was recently announced by the Lower Saxony Ministry for Science and Culture.

"We are pleased that our researchers have been able to implement so many research projects with our regional partners," said Dr Martina Lange, Head of Knowledge and Technology Transfer at Ostfalia. By the end of 2016, Ostfalia's funding had amounted to more than eight million euros across 17 projects.

The ERDF structural funds aim to even out disparities between poorer and richer regions within the EU, and thus strengthen economic, social and territorial cohesion within the European Union. The focus for the funding period 2014 to 2020 is on innovation and research, the digital agenda, the promotion of small and medium-sized enterprises and a low-carbon economy.
