Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences is very active at the European level. This applies not only to the student exchange programmes but also to research activities with partner universities in Europe. The EU Strategy FH project, led by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF), promotes the strategic positioning with regard to European research topics at Ostfalia.

A European workshop on innovation and entrepreneurship at Ostfalia formed the start of the second project phase. Four European universities participated in order to develop joint transfer and cooperation projects. Amongst those visiting in Wolfenbüttel was Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK), which already has close ties with Ostfalia in the area of teaching.

Building on this workshop, Prof. Dr. Gert Bikker, Vice President of Research, Development and Technology Transfer at Ostfalia, and the EU Strategy FH project team visited Tampere University of Applied Sciences from 28 to 31 August, 2017.

The objective of this delegation trip to Finland was to build cross-border networks, intensify cooperation by expanding student and researcher exchange programmes and develop joint project ideas in the field of innovation management. In this framework, successful talks about joint activities in the area of promoting research and innovation were held between Dr. Marja Sutela, Vice President of TAMK, and Prof. Gert Bikker. Bikker explained: “We are very excited to further intensify our partnership with TAMK. Not only do our students benefit from this partnership, but also our researchers. Joint research proposals are currently being developed in order to bundle knowledge at the European level and to tackle social challenges together in the future. We see a great need, particularly in the area of innovation and digitisation, and look forward to joint research projects with our Finnish partner university.”
