Innovation Forum 2025
Date / duration: 28.08.2025 - 28.08.2025
Time: 15:00 - 18:00
The digital and sustainable transformation of the economy is progressing inexorably. While digitalisation has long been an integral part of everyday business life, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) is now on the agenda of many companies. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in particular benefit from AI applications that sustainably optimise their processes, forecast market trends and increase competitiveness. At the same time, quantum technology is casting its promising shadow - another field of innovation with great potential.
Under the motto ‘Future technologies for SMEs - digital, secure and sustainable’, Ostfalia University, Braunschweig Chamber of Industry and Commerce and Braunschweig Technical University are organising the Innovation Forum 2025. It will take place on 28 August from 15:00 to 18:00 at the WOW! Wissensort Wolfenbüttel.
- To kick things off, Andrea Glaub, Managing Director of Glaub Automation & Engineering GmbH, will report on her company's experience with AI tools. Experts will then present their knowledge of new future technologies in five-minute pitches. Afterwards, participants will have the opportunity to exchange ideas at information stands and find out more about the topics relevant to them:
- To kick things off, Andrea Glaub, Managing Director of Glaub Automation & Engineering GmbH, will report on her company's experience with AI tools. Experts will then present their knowledge of new future technologies in five-minute pitches. Afterwards, participants will have the opportunity to exchange ideas at information stands and find out more about the topics relevant to them:
- The Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Hannover will be presenting the ‘Mobile Factory’: this represents the digitalised process chain of a manufacturing company in real life, including order tracking via digital twin and fully networked production including CO₂ footprint calculation.
- The Institute for Machine Tools and Production Engineering at TU Braunschweig offers a virtual tour of the learning factory. With the help of newly developed VR glasses, you can immerse yourself in a sustainable, digital model factory. Here you can experiment with modular production processes, an autonomous logistics system and your own technical building equipment.
- The EU's new AI regulation brings with it demanding challenges for companies. The ‘Digitial Innovation and Transformation Law Hub’ (DigITL Hub) of the Institute of Law at TU Braunschweig shows how digital future technologies can be implemented in practice in a legally compliant and legally secure manner in the future.
- AI for better recycling: As part of the WERTIS-KI project at Ostfalia University, an app was developed in cooperation with the waste disposal company A+B Peine, Ge-T GmbH and dida Datenschmiede GmbH. This provides support for the proper disposal of household items. In the long term, the project aims to help facilitate new material flows.
The joint project KI4ALL presents the AI hub, which was set up jointly by TU Braunschweig, TU Clausthal and Ostfalia HaW. Current areas of application and research in artificial intelligence are presented here digitally and made freely available - naturally also for SMEs in the region - Initial insights into the fascinating potential of quantum technology will be provided by PTB's Quantum Technology Competence Centre, which is driving the development of quantum technology together with Quantum Valley Lower Saxony, as well as the start-up Quodora GmbH. The spectrum ranges from fast, highly complex calculations (e.g. for data analysis and machine learning) to quantum encryption for secure data transmission and protection against cyber attacks to the use of quantum sensors.
