Ostfalia Card

What functions does the Ostfalia Card have?

The Ostfalia University Card (Ostfalia Card for short) is:

  • for students: Student ID card with photo
  • Library card
  • for employees: Employee ID card with photo
  • Access authorisation to buildings and rooms
  • Identification at the copy-print system (CPS)
  • electronic wallet (Mensa and CPS)

Where and how do I get my Ostfalia Card?

You will receive your Ostfalia Card on the first day of the semester at the IT Service Desk on the campus where you are studying. It can be collected there during opening hours. The card will not be sent by post. New employees receive the card on their first day of work.

There may be special issuing times for the card for newly enrolled students. Please read any information on this under News and disruption reports on this website.

What documents do I need to bring with me when I collect my Ostfalia Card?

The Ostfalia Card will only be issued on presentation of a valid original identity card, passport, driving licence or residence permit (no copy or photo).

How do I activate my Ostfalia Card?

You update the imprint on the rewritable strip on the front of the Ostfalia Card at the validation stations after the initial issue, after each re-registration and whenever the imprint is no longer legible.

At the top-up stations, you can top up your electronic wallet and use the university's copy-print system and make cashless payments in the Student Services Centre.

You can find out where the validation and top-up stations are located here.
