Research assistants

At Ostfalia, academic staff support numerous faculties and institutes in the preparation and realisation of teaching and work on research projects.

In many cases, they also take advantage of the opportunity to combine a career with their own further qualification, e.g. in a Master's degree programme or in doctoral projects, within the framework of part-time employment

A perfect springboard for your career

Have you already worked as a student assistant, have your Master's degree in your pocket, enjoy science and want to sharpen your own research profile? Then why not stay at the university!

Here you will find the vacancies for research assistants.

In conversation with: Jessica Arnholdt

Research assistant at the Salzgitter campus

"I appreciate the professional freedom and can provide food for thought for the logistics of the future.

in 2012, I started an apprenticeship in freight forwarding and logistics services in Braunschweig and realised relatively quickly that I was very interested in the logistics sector. In regional terms, both the Bachelor's degree programme in "Transport and Logistics Management" and the Master's degree programme in "Transport and Logistics" at Ostfalia University in Salzgitter were a very good fit for my field of interest.

I have been working as a research assistant at the Institute of Logistics Management since 2019. My tasks include administrative tasks, working on research projects, supporting courses and visiting trade fairs. Every day is different and it can be quite stressful when colleagues have urgent tasks. Professionally, however, you are given a lot of freedom.

The academic nature of the work, working with students and incorporating current trends into courses are great preparation for a potential entry into the business world. As a result of the trends that are developing on a daily basis, the logistics sector is also constantly changing as an interface between the economy, trade and end consumers, and being able to work and contribute in this area is an interesting and exciting job."
