Current Research Information System

Logo Current Research Information System

Various systems have been used in the past to collect, collate and present information on Ostfalia's research work publicly. However, a consistent, up-to-date and publicly accessible provision of information on research projects, publications and patents has not yet been achieved. At the same time, the fragmented provision of data repeatedly prolongs evaluation processes.

The introduction of a research information system (CRIS) aims to address these issues and, at the same time, provide researchers with an integrated system that will enable them to actively manage their research. To this end, interfaces are to be implemented with the university's SAP-PSM financial management system and OPUS4 repository. Furthermore, more easily accessible information on research projects and publications could enhance competitiveness in third-party funded research.

Ostfalia's CRIS will be the HIS-RES system from HIS eG. These interfaces will be implemented in collaboration with HIS eG and the Lower Saxony University Competence Centre for SAP (Customer Competence Centre). Existing systems will be gradually replaced by the FIS from the beginning of 2023. The FIS, including the interfaces, is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2023.

Transparency in Research

All universities for applied sciences in Lower Saxony are committed to transparent research practices. This means publishing information on who is conducting research, on whose behalf, and on what topic.

The State University Conference (LHK) and the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture have compiled all the key information in the research transparency guidelines. These stipulate that basic data on all externally funded research projects must be collected by 1 December each year and published by 31 March the following year. This transparency data can be viewed in Ostfalia's research information system (external link, opens in a new window). Where confidentiality has been agreed in the contract, e.g. for competitive reasons, the client and project title can be replaced with information such as the sector and research area.

The research information system also offers a search function (external link, opens in a new window) for research projects and publications (external link, opens in a new window).
