Third-Party Funded Research

Ostfalia researchers are constantly seeking third-party funding to finance research programmes, both applied and contractual. The third-party funding guidelines regulate the acquisition and administration procedures.

Third-party funded research comprises projects that are financially supported by public sponsors, such as ministries or foundations. The funding organisation explicitly specifies the framework conditions, which can vary greatly.

Key characteristics: Scientific competition (as in calls for projects and funding programmes)

EU Funding

EU Funding: Tenders within the framework of Horizon Europe and other European programmes, such as Interreg.

Federal Funding

Federal Funding: This includes calls for tenders from government bodies such as the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR), the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE), and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN).

The BMWE's funding programmes include the “Central Innovation Programme for small and medium-sized enterprises (ZIM) (external link, opens in a new window)”. You can contact the InnoZent OWL e.V. network for support during the application process. Ostfalia is a member of the association, and its consultants have extensive experience in supporting ZIM project applications. For further information and contacts to the network, please contact Dr. Martina Lange (opens your email program).

State Funding

State Funding: State tenders, e.g. European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), European Social Fund (ESF), European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and specialist programmes of the ministries

University Funding

University Funding: Funding opportunities from the Ostfalia Research Committee's research pool.
