Presidential Board
The Presidential Board of Ostfalia University fulfils the following tasks:
- Managing the university under its own responsibility
- Responsible for the fulfilment of the university's tasks and its development, for the conclusion of target agreements with the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture, for the business plan and for the distribution of funds within the university
- Deciding on the establishment, modification and cancellation of faculties and institutes
- Decisions on the introduction, significant changes, closure of degree programmes or the approval of examination regulations
- Deciding on appointment proposals
- Legal supervision of university bodies and the student body
- The President is the superior of the professors and employees
- Departmental principle; the President has authority to issue directives
- Term of office for full-time members: 6 years, 8 years if re-elected
- Term of office for part-time members: 3 years
