FAQ - Frequently asked questions
Is there something to eat and drink?
Yes, this year there are various food and drink offers at fair prices. You can find the selection of offers here.
Is the trade fair free of charge?
Yes, the trade fair is generally free for everyone.
Exception: Food and drinks at the food trucks are offered on site for a fee.
Do I have to register for the trade fair?
No, prior registration is not necessary. You can just drop by spontaneously :)
Where does the fair take place?
The fair takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Exer 11 in Wolfenbüttel. The company stands are in the exhibition tent in the car park at Exer 11. The supporting programme takes place in the adjacent lecture hall building.
Is the trade fair barrier-free?
Yes, the trade fair is barrier-free. During peak times, however, the paths can be a little more crowded.
What is the car park situation like on site?
The car park at Exer 11 is reserved for the exhibition tent and the participating companies. However, as a trade fair visitor you have numerous parking options on the extensive campus site "Am Exer". You can also park on the "Salzdahlumerstraße" campus site and walk up to the Exer (max. 10 minutes on foot). We will provide a location map on our website shortly.
Is there a trade fair plan?
Yes, the trade fair plan will be published on the website shortly before the trade fair. You can also pick up a map from the central information stand in the exhibition tent on the day of the fair.
Can I bring my friend who is not studying at Ostfalia to the fair?
The fair is for all interested people - whether Ostfalia students, alumni, accompanying persons, students from other universities, pupils, friends, family. Everyone is welcome!
For which semester is the fair useful?
The fair has something to offer for all semesters. Regardless of whether you are about to graduate or are looking for internships or working student jobs. It's best to take a look at the participating companies in advance to see what they have to offer.
You can also benefit from our extensive social programme, regardless of which semester you are currently in. For example, it is always good to have a high-quality application photo.
Will Alumni Talks be offered this year?
Yes, Alumni Talks will also be offered this year. But in a different format. On the day of the fair, there will be a public list with the names of participating company representatives who studied at Ostfalia. You can then approach the people at the stand and start a conversation. More information can be found here.
How does the application photo work? Can I book an appointment online beforehand?
A list will be displayed on the day of the fair in which you can enter your name. You can decide for yourself at what time you would like to take advantage of the offer. You can take advantage of our other offers before and after your reserved appointment: Discover the exhibition tent, have exciting conversations, take advantage of counselling services or get something tasty to snack on. There are many ways to organise your day.
Why is there no or only a few companies represented for my specialism?
We try to find interesting companies for all areas in order to fulfil the motto "Trade fair for everyone". Unfortunately, we do not always have control over which companies are interested in the trade fair and would like to participate. Furthermore, the listings are compiled according to specialist areas based on the information that the companies send us. It may well be that a company currently (or during the trade fair period) has no vacancies in the Media & Marketing department, for example, but is of course generally recruiting people for this area (Marketing, Public Relations department). You are therefore welcome to find out about future opportunities directly at the company stand.
Why do large companies often not specify media, even though they normally cover this area?
The companies indicate the areas in which they are currently looking for people. Even if the media sector is not mentioned, there may be interest in the future. Feel free to approach the companies - they look forward to great conversations with you.
Do I have to actively enter into dialogue with companies?
You don't have to actively talk to companies. You can take your time to get an overview and decide for yourself which companies you would like to talk to. The company representatives and all other participants at the information stands, the alumni and speakers at the lectures/workshops look forward to talking to you.
Are there only company representatives from the HR sector at the fair or are there also specialised staff?
That depends on the company! There are company stands that are mainly manned by HR staff, but there are also companies that have made a conscious decision to have HR staff and specialists from other areas attend the fair as contact persons. Simply stop by the companies you are interested in and enquire.
How are the participating companies selected?
We contact the companies in different ways and try to find interesting exhibitors for each specialist area so that we can fulfil our motto "Trade fair for everyone". We do not focus on a specific area! However, experience has shown that it is mainly companies from the technical sector that want to take part in the fair. Other specialised companies such as media companies, companies in the healthcare sector (e.g. hospitals) or companies from the sports and tourism sectors are of course also approached by us, but have unfortunately not been interested in participating for various reasons.
I have further questions! Who should I contact?
You can contact us at any time at expect(at)ostfalia.de (opens your email program) or your fellow student Alicia at a.beer(at)ostfalia.de. (opens your email program)
