The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has three integrated institutes. Due to the development and realisation of the course content by the institutes, students receive practical insights and examples of tasks.

Institute for Construction and Applied Mechanical Engineering (IKAM)
Institute of Design and Applied Mechanical Engineering (IKAM)
In addition to the courses offered in the basic subjects of mechanical engineering, the institute specialises in drive and vehicle technology as well as design and development. The entire development process from concept - design - construction - layout and testing is accompanied by corresponding courses.
The entire modern digitalised development process, from virtual meetings of the development teams to CAE methods and digital product management, is represented in teaching and research. Testing can be carried out using numerous existing test facilities.
Institute of Production Technology - IPT
The Institute of Production Technology (IPT ) deals with these future-orientated topics in research, teaching and industrial projects. The IPT sees itself as a partner to industry, supporting companies in the introduction of these new technologies.
It offers students the opportunity to deal with these topics in depth during their studies in the Smart Production specialisation and in the Master's degree course in Automotive Production and to become involved in research and industrial projects.
