What's going on?
Quite a lot. Right where real change begins!
With “Transfer and Transformation” (TuT), Ostfalia creates spaces where academia, industry, civil society and public administration come together to tackle the major challenges of our time.
Whether it's digital methods, technological innovation or social dialogue TuT brings people and ideas together. So that knowledge doesn’t disappear into drawers, but becomes impactful. And good intentions turn into real change.
TuT doesn’t just ask what’s possible - TuT makes it happen.
Funded by zukunft.niedersachsen, the joint science funding programme of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture and the Volkswagen Foundation.
What is TuT really about?
Transfer and Transformation is a strategic initiative by Ostfalia University aimed at strengthening the transfer of knowledge and ideas into society. Its goal is to actively shape both digital and societal change, and to develop new pathways for collaboration with civil society actors. The project promotes interdisciplinary cooperation, real-world research and the development of sustainable innovation structures.
What we focus on:
- Establishing knowledge spaces for interaction with society and key stakeholders
- Transfer management – support through transfer-oriented services, scouting, proposal assistance, and research marketing
- Expanding and maintaining a strong transfer network
- Driving digital transformation
- Implementing real-world laboratories and test environments

FAQ'S
How is a WissensOrt different from a traditional research project?
A WissensOrt is not a closed research setting. It’s a place of exchange, participation and co-creation, where citizens, institutions and companies come together with the university.
How are students involved in transfer formats?
At TuT, students aren’t just along for the ride – they help shape the journey.
In formats like the Ostfalia Startup Lunch, idea workshops, exhibitions or real-world labs, they meet practice partners, develop their own projects further, and actively contribute their perspectives to the knowledge exchange.
Is there support for applying to funding programmes?
Yes, TuT provides guidance in identifying suitable funding opportunities, supports the application process and assists with project development for university members.
Can smaller businesses or associations benefit from TuT?
Absolutely! Smaller organizations in particular benefit from TuT’s hands-on, low-threshold formats and gain access to academic expertise, contacts and fresh ideas.
What exactly happens in a real-world lab?
FAQ 3
A real-world lab is a safe space where new ideas, products or processes are tested and co-developed under real conditions. It is collaboratively, flexibly and with strong stakeholder involvement.
