We support you from the beginning of your career with us right through to retirement.

When you start a job with us, you can look forward to various offers that will make your start and growth at Ostfalia easier.

Development opportunities

Onboarding - Arrive well together with us!

To make it easier for you to get started, all new employees and professors receive our "Onboarding Guide" at the beginning of their employment - a brochure with important initial information and key contact persons.

In addition, a personal job mentor will support you during the initial period. Our job mentors are experienced employees who are very familiar with the university organisation, the working environment and the communication channels at Ostfalia. They will help you to quickly find your feet and feel secure in your new environment.

In addition, we regularly invite all new employees to a welcome event at the Wolfenbüttel campus. This gives you the opportunity to get to know other new colleagues, make initial contacts and experience the campus, the university management and some of the administration in person.

We look forward to meeting you and will be happy to help you get started at Ostfalia!

Training and further education in all facets

Internal training and further education

You can find the internal further education and training courses offered by the Human Resources Development department, the Centre for Teaching and Learning, Occupational Health Management and Occupational Safety in our

Further education portal for employees and professors (external link, opens in a new window).

Employees can register and deregister for events there themselves and view training and development courses they have already attended. The events offered there are of course free of charge for our employees.

In addition, other central service facilities and faculties at Ostfalia also regularly offer information events on various topics, which are advertised internally.

Inter-university further education

The inter-university further education programme (called “Hochschulübergreifende Weiterbildung”, abbreviated as “HüW”) complements the internal staff development and continuing education measures at Ostfalia. By coordinating internal and cross-university measures, the aim is to provide all employee groups with adequate qualifications. A particular added value of the HüW events is that they offer an active exchange with employees from other cooperating universities and thus expand your professional network.

The further training courses are offered in two programme semesters - from April to September and from October to March - and are announced by Ostfalia via circular mail. For Ostfalia employees, the reduced price for HüW cooperation universities applies, which is borne by the respective organisational unit.

Further information and the course programme can be found here. (external link, opens in a new window)

Time- and location-independent learning with a digital learning platform

We offer you access to one of the world's largest digital learning platforms and thus to numerous teaching and training videos on topics taught by industry experts. Choose from a wide range of courses and learning content in the areas of business, technology, creativity, soft skills and personal development. Learn when it suits you best - independent of time and place.

There are also numerous other digital learning opportunities that you can use as an Ostfalia employee, for example to find out about your company pension scheme, occupational safety, digital accessibility or artificial intelligence.

Speaking of "artificial intelligence": our AI assistant "OLAF (external link, opens in a new window)", the Ostfalia learning and work assistant for questions, will be happy to provide you with information, tips and assistance in your day-to-day work.

External learning opportunities

Our employees are also invited to take advantage of development programmes offered by external institutions - especially if they cover content that goes beyond our own offering. Below you will find some selected options:

Training and further education programme of the Lower Saxony Study Institute
Training programme of the Lower Saxony Study Institute for Municipal Administration e.V.
Federal Academy for Cultural Education Wolfenbüttel
German University Association: Seminars and coaching/mentoring for university lecturers
Centre for Science Management e.V.
Further education via the CHE (Centre for Higher Education Development)
European Academy for Taxation, Economics & Law

This list is not exhaustive. There are many doors open to you - please feel free to contact us.

Travelling abroad as university staff

As a contribution to internationalisation, Ostfalia enables its employees - both in teaching and administration - to undertake further and advanced training at European universities as well as at companies and institutions abroad. Through the STT (Staff Mobility for Training) programme, employees from all areas of Ostfalia can be supported - from trainees to presidents.

Would you like to find out more about the opportunities? You can find detailed information on the pages of the International Relations Office.

Coaching, mediation & co

We provide our employees with targeted support for their personal and professional development: our services include professional coaching, customised team development measures and mediation. Together, we create space for growth, strengthen teamwork and provide you with expert support when you face challenges in your day-to-day work. You can also count on our support in challenging times.

Attracting and Developing Professors – "PRoProf" Project

Within the framework of the "Personalentwicklung & Recruiting optimieren für Professuren" (PRoProf) program, the federal and state governments promote the development and implementation of university- and site-specific concepts for innovative recruitment and qualification pathways aimed at attracting the next generation of professors to universities of applied sciences (Fachhochschulen, FH) and universities of applied sciences (HAW).

At Ostfalia, individual professional development is made easy.
