With brains, tech and practice towards the future

Do you want to not only understand technology and IT, but also apply them directly? Then Digital Engineering Mechanical Engineering in a practical programme is just right for you! Here you will combine modern engineering knowledge with digitalisation - together with a practice partner from industry right from the start.

You have two options to choose from: The training-integrated or a practice-integrated degree programme.

Either way, with a bachelor's degree and training in your pocket, you are on the fast track to the future. And the best thing is that your practice partner will usually cover the semester fees and pay you a monthly salary.

During your studies, you will learn how to plan, develop and improve machines digitally - with tools such as computer-aided design (CAD), 3D modelling, simulation and digital prototyping. Topics such as Industry 4.0, the Internet of Things (IoT), data analysis, artificial intelligence and machine learning are part of everyday life here. You will become the interface between mechanical engineering and IT - and thus a sought-after specialist for the industry of the future.

We live mechanical engineering! Join us, we'll get you there..

Details of the degree programme

Deepening

After the foundation course, in which you have learnt the basics of engineering, and the 6th semester, your 2nd practical phase, it's time to get down to business:

The main study programme takes place in the 7th and 8th semesters. During this time, you will deepen your knowledge in a specific subject area. This is why these two semesters are also known as specialisation semesters. You can choose from three specialisations:

  • Digital product development
Here you will acquire specialist knowledge in areas such as 3D CAD modelling, FEM calculation, structural optimisation, dynamic simulation and rapid prototyping . You will learn how to create the necessary product models, determine relevant product properties at an early stage and define the right product optimisations
  • Mechatronics and digitalisation
Here you will learn about the interaction between mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and computer science using current applications. Driver assistance systems, cyber-physical systems, additive manufacturing (3D printing) and the Internet of Things (IoT) are just a few examples of solutions that would not be possible without a sound knowledge of mechatronics.
  • Smart Production
Here you will learn the basics that will enable you to successfully deal with topics such as Industry 4.0, the digital factory, close collaboration between humans and robots and the pioneering technology of 3D printing in your future career.

Practical learning

Practical learning

Integrated training (with IHK qualification):
Do you want to study and do an apprenticeship at the same time? In the training-integrated degree programme, you will become a technology and IT professional with an IHK qualification - you will digitally plan machines, make them smarter and get them running in high-tech. Use your practical knowledge directly in the lecture theatre. Theory meets trade - and you're right in the middle of it!

Practice-integrated (without IHK qualification):
The practice-integrated degree programme gets you out of the lecture theatre early and into a smart technology adventure. You will learn how to use AI, control high-tech machines and work with real professionals on cool projects. Your practical know-how will make you twice as strong during your studies!

#practical - we stick to it!
