New episode of the Ostfalia podcast "Simply Research"

When decisions are made about the welfare of children , professionals are often faced with complex and highly sensitive situations. Subjective judgements, time pressure and great responsibility make this task particularly challenging. This is precisely where the research of our guest today comes in. Prof Dr Ilona Lubitz is a psychologist and Professor of Social Work at our location in Wolfenbüttel. Among other things, she conducts research there on skills in child protection and the relevance of attachments in the field of social work and family law.

When no path is clear: How psychological expertise shapes decisions in social work

Together with Prof Dr Heinz-Dieter Quack , she will talk about psychological skills in social work, attachment, parenting skills and the question of how child endangerment can be assessed in a well-founded manner. She provides insights into her work as a legal-psychological expert and her research into the development of suitable diagnostic tools.
