Student accident reports

Students are generally covered by statutory accident insurance during their education and training at universities. The responsible institution is the Lower Saxony State Accident Insurance Fund (LUKN).

Have you had an accident at work, on the way to work or during sports?

If you have had to seek medical treatment due to an accident and have stated that you are a student at Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences, you must report this to the Lower Saxony State Accident Insurance Fund (LUKN).

The LUKN then requests a corresponding accident report from the university. The university coordinates the preparation of this report and submits the complete accident report to the LUKN. The LUKN then checks whether and which treatment costs are covered within the framework of its regulations.

To speed up processing, you can also report the accident to the university yourself.

How can I submit an accident report?

  • Please complete lines 5-23 of the accident report (see above) in full (please leave lines 1-4 and 24 blank).
  • In the event of a commuting accident, please also complete the commuting accident form. This must be signed on the last page.
  • If the accident occurred in the context of university sports, please also have the university sports questionnaire completed at the Centre for University Sports, Am Exer 3 (contact Ms Schwede).
  • Enclose any relevant certificates and return the printed documents to the Enrolment Office, attn. Ms Hellmund.
