Babak Mohebi, Aimé Cesaire Talla Tchente and Ahmed Amer receive final-year scholarships. As part of the STIBET programme, the German Academic Exchange Service enables universities to award scholarships to students who are in the final phase of their studies via the Federal Foreign Office. The aim is to enable students to concentrate fully on their final thesis by alleviating the financial burden and perhaps sparing them a part-time job or two during this important phase.
Nomination by committed professors
At Ostfalia, the International Student Office always calls on professors in the faculties to nominate students who are at the end of their degree programme and are in need of such support. Prof Reinhard Gerndt thought that Mr Mohebi should more than receive such support and spoke out in his favour with words of praise. His colleague Prof Bülent Yagimli did the same for Mr Amer and Mr Talla Tchente. The students will now receive €600.00 per month for a period of three months.
Practical relevance as a reason for the decision
After studying physics (B.Sc.) in Cameroon, Aimé Cesaire Talla Tchente was attracted to Ostfalia by the practical relevance of the degree programme. Babak Mohebi from Iran and Ahmed Amer from Egypt also cite this reason for choosing to study at Ostfalia. All three see being able to apply what they have learnt directly and understand how everything is connected in projects as a major advantage.
Research topics with a future
Babak Mohebi is studying on the Digital Technologies programme. He finds the modules on autonomous systems and smart cyber-physical systems particularly interesting. He is currently writing his final thesis on the topic of "Development of ISO 50001-compliant real-time energy monitoring using an asset administration shell using the example of pneumatic components" at SMC Deutschland GmbH in Frankfurt.
Aimé Cesaire Talla Tchente is studying in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and is writing his thesis on "Application of Continuum Damage Mechanics (CDM) to investigate the damage behaviour of elastomers with Abaqus and Python". He has not regretted his decision to go to Ostfalia either. Above all, he sees the close contact with professors and lecturers and the good support that made this possible as an advantage of studying at Ostfalia.
This is also confirmed by Ahmed Amer, who is also studying at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and is writing his final thesis on "3D printing as a business model: creating a business plan with a focus on sustainability and growth". He hopes to pursue his passion for 3D printing in his own business after graduation.
Strong connections and good prospects
All three students emphasise how beneficial it was to be able to study in small groups. The close links between Ostfalia and local businesses were also important to all three.
All three are optimistic about the future and are convinced that studying at Ostfalia will give them the best possible start. They are examples of how foreign students can study in Germany with satisfaction and success. They are representative of numerous students who have decided in favour of Ostfalia and Germany.
All three will hopefully enrich the German economy with their ideas, their commitment and also with what they have learnt at Ostfalia.
