RoboCup at Ostfalia: Research meets football and robotics
Robots that play football on their own? That's exactly what the WF Wolves (external link, opens in a new window) team at Ostfalia University is working on. In the latest episode of the "Einfach Forschung" podcast, Torben Röhrs and Emil Meier talk to presenter Heinz-Dieter Quack about their experiences in the RoboCup and the development of autonomous football systems.
The two provide exciting insights into the technical realisation of their robots and explain the complex systems and technologies behind the game operation. In addition to the development of software and hardware, they will also discuss team organisation, knowledge transfer and the question of how to prepare the next generation of developers.

Torben Röhrs has already completed his studies and continues to support the project as a supervisor. Emil Meier is an active student in the WF Wolves and is working with the team on the further development of the Ostfalia football robots.
In conversation with Heinz-Dieter Quack, challenges are also highlighted, such as what happens if a robot is no longer operational at a crucial moment, or how the team prepares for international RoboCup tournaments.
