Sabine Reetz reported on her special connection to Ostfalia, which goes back over half a century, via Facebook.

"My personal Ostfalia relationship is already over 50 years old," she reports. Shortly before she was born, her father was already studying at the former Braunschweig/Wolfenbüttel University of Applied Sciences, while the family lived on campus in student accommodation.

Around 20 years later, her husband - then still her boyfriend - studied mechanical engineering at the university. Today, her two daughters are continuing the tradition: Michelle studied Social Work in Wolfenbüttel from 2022 to 2025, while Chantal has been enrolled on the Tourism Management degree programme in Salzgitter since 2023.

Sabine Reetz has thus experienced the university at different stages of her life: as a baby in 1974, as a student's partner in 1994 and as the mother of a student at the Open Day in 2024. Her story shows how Ostfalia accompanies and connects people across generations.
