At its most recent meeting, the Senate of Ostfalia University elected Ostfalia Professor Dr. Ina Schiering as the new Vice President for Research, Development and Technology Transfer on the recommendation of the President, Prof. Dr Julia Siegmüller. The University Council had previously unanimously welcomed this proposal.

Prof. Dr. Ina Schiering said that she was looking forward to working with Ostfalia researchers and their partners to further develop application-oriented research and transfer. "My focus is on interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research as well as collaboration in the real-world laboratories. It is important to me that research becomes visible and tangible for students and society and that together we make a contribution to overcoming social challenges."

Ostfalia President Prof. Dr. Julia Siegmüller warmly congratulated: "Prof. Dr. Ina Schiering is a very committed and successful researcher who not only has extensive experience in acquiring research funding, but also has excellent networks across the university and in the research region. I am very much looking forward to working with her on the Executive Board."

Siegmüller also thanked the outgoing Vice President for Research, Development and Technology Transfer, Prof. Dr. Heinz-Dieter Quack, for his great commitment. He has held the position since 2023 and would now like to devote himself fully to his own research activities again.

Following the election by the Senate, the official appointment of the new Vice President by the Ministry of Science and Culture is now pending.
