Mechanical engineering in practice
Complete your bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with practical experience - you are the future!
Theory and practice hand in hand: live out your talent in engineering - future-oriented and with an individual focus: side by side with one of our practice partners. With us, you have the choice: we offer you an apprenticeship or practice-integrated degree course. And the best thing is that your cooperation partner usually pays your semester fees and also pays you a monthly salary.
Facts at a glance
Study + training = career!
In the case of a training-integrated degree programme, you will complete an apprenticeship as an industrial mechanic, mechatronics engineer, technical productdesigner or you will become a cutting machine operator in your company in addition to your studies. You may attend vocational school and take a final IHK examination. In the practice-integrated variant, you also work on projects and student work in the company, do not take an IHK final examination, but receive an internal training plan.
Mechanical engineers are sought and needed everywhere like never before. Our combined mechanical engineering degree programme opens up a wide range of career opportunities in the fascinating world of technology. Your career opportunities are diverse.
Designing and creating computer-based and haptic products sounds exciting to you? It is! Intelligent, digital and networked systems produce or operate almost every product we use every day: packaging machines, high-speed lifts, wind turbines, agricultural machinery, electric vehicles, machine tools and construction machinery or industrial robots are just a few examples.
We will prepare you! Based on sound training in mechanical engineering, we offer you specialisations in the fields of drive and vehicle technology, development and design, mechatronics and digitalisation as well as smart production.
In short: here you will learn everything you need to be successful in the constantly changing and modern world of mechanical engineering.
We live mechanical engineering! Join us, we'll get you there..
Shape the future with us: personal. digital. practical.

Details of the degree programme
Deepening
After the foundation course, in which you have learnt the basics of engineering, and the 6th semester, your 2nd practical phase, it's time to get down to business:
The main study programme takes place in the 7th and 8th semesters. Here you will specialise in a sub-area of mechanical engineering, which is why these two semesters are also referred to as specialisation semesters. In mechanical engineering, you choose one of four specialisations:
- Drive and vehicle technology:
Here, everything revolves around the vehicle industry - in other words, vehicles of all kinds. The major challenges are to develop better drive and vehicle systems that are efficient, economical, comfortable, safe and environmentally friendly. - Design and development:
The entire process from idea to development is covered here. In addition to various design methods, digital tools such as computer-aided design (CAD), virtual reality (VR), finite element method ( FEM ) and simulation tools are used. - Mechatronics and digitalisation:
A combination of mechanics, electrical engineering and computer science. Mechanical systems are developed and simulated here, including topics such as machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI). Example: autonomous driving! - Smart Production
Intelligent production processes are on the programme. The entire chain from planning to organisation, various production technologies and quality management through to production and logistics management is covered here. Additive and robot-assisted manufacturing are also on the programme.
Practical learning
Practical learning
Integrated training (with IHK qualification):
Do you want to study and do an apprenticeship at the same time? In the training-integrated degree programme, you will become a technology professional with an IHK qualification - you will build robots, get machines up and running and use your practical knowledge directly in the lecture hall. Theory meets craft - and you're right in the thick of it!
Practice-integrated (without IHK qualification):
The practice-integrated degree programme gets you out of the lecture theatre early and into a real engineering adventure. You will learn how to tame metal, control high-tech machines and work with real professionals on cool projects. Your practical know-how will make you twice as strong during your studies!
