Study Buddies

Study Buddies

The Study Buddies are student assistants from a higher semester who lead study groups for international students. They assist them with their 'first steps', e.g. registering their place of residence or opening a bank account, and provide support with language and cultural issues. During the first semester, the Study Buddies organise social activities together with the study group.

This offer is primarily for students at the Salzgitter campus. On request, students from other university locations can also contact Nadine Anumba (external link, opens in a new window).

Specialised tutorial

Specialist tutor

Specialist tutor

In addition to the general support programmes at Ostfalia, student assistants are employed as tutors for courses and specialist subjects. They support international students in understanding the subject matter. If you are interested, please contact Katharina Beckurts (external link, opens in a new window).

International regulars' table

International regulars' table

The international regulars' table is an offer to promote personal contact and exchange between students and members of the university. Anyone who would like to talk to international or internationally interested people is welcome. For example, you can get to know a counsellor from International Career Services, a particular professor or the AIESEC board in a relaxed atmosphere. The regulars' table is offered at the Salzgitter campus and is labelled "Internationaler Stammtisch" in the canteen. If you are interested, please contact Nadine Anumba (external link, opens in a new window).

Events

Intercultural training: Studying in Germany

This workshop will prepare you optimally for starting your studies in Germany and at Ostfalia.

Different cultural perspectives can lead to cultural conflicts and misunderstandings. Intercultural competence plays an increasingly important role in avoiding these potential negative consequences. This training course focuses on an approach to the topic of culture in general and reflection on one's own cultural identity in particular.

In the training course, we work primarily with experience-based methods. The focus is on combining scientific reflection with a clear practical orientation.

The next workshop will take place on:

  • March 13, 2026, or April 10, 2026
  • from 3 to 5 p.m.
  • Am Exer 2d, Room 185

You must register for this workshop yourself via Moodle here (external link, opens in a new window).

Intercultural training: Working in Germany

Towards the end of your studies at Ostfalia, you will be offered further intercultural training, which will prepare you specifically for working in German culture or German (sub)cultures. The intercultural training takes place as part of the German courses.

Further information will be available here soon!

Career Talk "Next Step Stories" on 08.05.2026

International students and alumni of Ostfalia report honestly and openly about their personal journey from studying to their first job. They share their personal best practice examples and reveal how they successfully overcome cultural, linguistic, and personal challenges during their studies and when looking for a job.

Next date: to follow

Matching Days

At this dialogue event, company representatives first give keynote speeches in which they present possible fields of activity and explain how they integrate international students. This is followed by an open dialogue in small groups at bar tables. In a third block, individual discussions take place. These can also be arranged in advance.

If required, Katharina Beckurts (external link, opens in a new window) can be contacted.
