This year's graduation ceremony of the Brunswick European Law School (BELS) took place on 16 May 2025. Around 200 guests gathered in the auditorium to celebrate the academic successes of this year's graduates.
In his speech, Dean Prof. Dr iur. Kai Litschen addressed the special challenges of recent years: "Most of you have had to live through a difficult time due to the coronavirus pandemic and yet have mastered your studies well. Nothing in life can shock you now."
Dean of Studies Prof. Dr Ralf Imhof emphasised the diverse perspectives of the graduates: "The qualification of lawyers is based on a combination of skills that makes them attractive for many positions."
The Deputy Mayor, Elke Wesche Möller, attended the ceremony on behalf of the city and, among other things, addressed the attendees.
Nils Fründ, a graduate of the Bachelor's degree programme in Law, Human Resources Management and Personnel Psychology, looked back on his studies from his perspective. He combined the review with a look ahead to what can come after the successful graduation.
The lecturers Nico Hermmann and Dr Roland Wierling each received an "Aequitas" medal of merit for special services to teaching and research.
The focus of the ceremony was on honouring outstanding achievements and the ceremonial presentation of decorative certificates to all graduates present.
Honours for special achievements
Carl Thaler and Dené Schunck were each honoured with a PKF Fasselt Award for outstanding achievements in their studies. The honour for PKF Fasselt was presented by lawyer Sören Damerau. Cindy Anton received the Eckert & Kollegen Award, which was presented to her by lawyer Marc Schnneider. The Faculty Award 2025 donated by the City of Wolfenbüttel for the best Master's degree in the period from 1 March 2024 to 28 February 2025 went to Philomena Mercedes Susan Finke-Fricke and was presented by Elke Wesche-Möller.
The music duo "Perceived as One" provided the musical backdrop this year.
The faculty congratulates all graduates and wishes them all the best for their future careers.
