24-year-old junior Wilfried Noah Elomo has been studying for a Bachelor's degree in Logistics Management at Ostfalia University's Salzgitter campus since 2021. Since then, he has continuously supported his fellow students. Elomo is now receiving special recognition in the form of a scholarship worth 2,400 euros. The money is being provided by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) (external link, opens in a new window). "Studying in a foreign language and a foreign country is a great challenge. Standing up for your fellow students and devoting time and energy to supporting them is a sign of special commitment," says Tanja Wulfert from Ostfalia's International Student Office (ISO).
Student at Ostfalia University in Salzgitter is involved in a variety of ways
Elomo, who comes from Cameroon, has been a member of the study committee since 2023. As a mentor, he also helps first-semester students find their way around the Salzgitter campus and take their first steps in everyday university life. He now works as a student assistant in a support and integration programme for international students at Ostfalia. However, he also supports the organisers beyond his work - for example by editing information material for international students.
"There are many international students at German universities who leave a lasting positive impression during their time at university. Students who leave their comfort zone and get involved. Students who go the extra mile for and with others. They can enrich our society and they are the ones we should attract to Germany and motivate to stay," says Tanja Wulfert.
