Research

Current research projects:

  • 9/2025 - 10/2026 Research project "MiMiMi - Mitreden, Mitgestalten, Mitforschen Participation and Awareness in residential youth care"
    • This practical research project aims to analyse, strengthen and further develop participation by young people in residential care units, particularly in the areas of awareness and sex education. The focus is on the joint development of participation concepts with young people in order to better take their needs and perspectives into account and promote participatory education.
    • Funding/client: Elisabethstift gGmbH Jugendhilfe der Diakonie, Salzgitter
    • Project sum: €26,840, 32
  • 2023-2026 Research project "Dynamite " - Inter-municipal organisation of a residential offer and participatory accompanying research for and with young people in challenging life situations. Cooperative research project with AWO Braunschweig.
    • This is a research project within the framework of a co-operation with Arbeiterwohlfahrt Braunschweig (AWO BS). The co-operation is divided into sub-projects. The study is framed as cooperative and participatory accompanying research. In addition to AWO Braunschweig, other independent and public child and youth welfare organisations are involved as cooperative partners.
    • A new inpatient residential programme at AWO BS focuses on developing prospects for young people in challenging life situations. These young people are often referred to as "system disrupters". Although the term refers to the problems, it can and is also viewed critically. Questions arise as to who breaks who or what, what "system" means exactly and in individual cases, how youth welfare services can act with young people, cooperate and support them. In the research cooperation, this "explosive potential" is critically scrutinised and the AWO's new residential offer is made analytically accessible from different perspectives. The accompanying research is aimed in particular at three levels and sub-projects:

      1. Inter-municipal-organisational cooperation

      2. Perspectives and patterns of interpretation of the young people

      3. Case development and description:
      • The study is framed as a qualitative mixed-method study. Particularly in the tradition of grounded theory methodology and participatory research approaches, different methods (e.g. expert interviews, participant observations, group discussions, document analysis) are used to achieve comprehensive analyses.

    • The project is financially supported by various funding organisations.

      • Total amount of external funding: 100 000€

    • The project is financially supported by:

      • Braunschweig Cultural Heritage Foundation

      • Kroschke Children's Foundation

      • District of Helmstedt

      • District of Hildesheim
