The Institute of Information Engineering (IIE) serves teaching, studies, research and further education within computer science and economics and comprises the following main areas:

• Design and implementation concepts for (operational) data management, in particular data warehousing
• Methods of data analysis and knowledge discovery in databases and their applications
• Decision-support systems and simulation in business applications
• IT security and privacy in areas as Internet of Things and cloud computing
