An Ostfalia degree in Social Work opens up numerous exciting fields of work in which you can actively improve people's lives and help shape social change. The new Social Work Online degree programme also offers you the opportunity to combine your career, family and studies in an ideal way - flexibly, personally and close to practice.

You study independently in the Moodle learning environment and at the same time benefit from weekly live online events in the evening, which allow you to interact directly with lecturers and fellow students. If you are unable to attend live, all recordings are available to you at any time.

Three to four voluntary attendance days per semester at the Suderburg campus create space for personal encounters, practical impulses and valuable networks. This is the ideal way to combine your studies with your career, family and everyday life - and you can realise your social vision step by step.

What is the degree programme about?

During your degree programme, you will acquire the key technical, methodological and personal skills you need to work professionally and responsibly in the field of social work. Scientific principles are closely linked with practical application.

Among other things, you will deal with

  • Psychological foundations of human development processes
  • Professional counselling and support for people in crisis and stressful situations
  • Legal framework conditions and ethical principles of social work
  • Social research methods for empirically analysing social situations
  • Reflection and further development of your professional actions

The programme content is geared towards current social challenges. You will focus individually on

  • Intervention and counselling
  • Education and prevention

Online study programme - flexible, digital, practical

Digital learning worlds at a glance

  • Each module has its own Moodle course with learning materials, tasks, deadlines and important documents
  • Web lectures take place in the evening and are optimised for working people
  • All events are recorded and can be accessed at any time
  • You organise assignments, papers and presentations completely digitally via Moodle and web conferences

Attendance phases - personal, intensive, valuable

  • Usually three block dates per semester (Friday and Saturday) at the Suderburg campus with great added value for networking and study success
  • Seminars, group work, case discussions and personal dialogue on site
  • Voluntary participation in the live online events

Plannability right from the start

So that you can coordinate your studies, career and private life in the best possible way, you will receive a full timetable with web conferencing at the start of the semester:

  • Your complete timetable with web conferences and attendance dates
  • Your examination schedule with all exam dates

You benefit from maximum transparency and a high degree of planning security.

Support that fits your life

A central contact person will support you throughout your entire degree programme - from application to graduation. In addition, lecturers are directly available to you in every Moodle course, and you can quickly make contact with your fellow students via groups and forums.

Study flexibly - at your own pace

The degree programme is part-time and suitable for part-time study. You decide how intensively you want to study by setting the number of credits per semester. The degree programme is designed for seven semesters and offers you enough time to combine theory and practice in a meaningful way.
