Good academic performance, commitment or particular challenges in your personal life can pay off: students and new students at Ostfalia have until 31 August 2026 to apply for the Deutschlandstipendium. The grant amounts to 300 euros per month and can be awarded for up to two semesters.
The scholarship is not counted towards BAföG
It is not just good grades that count. Voluntary work, special awards, a completed vocational qualification in the relevant field, or social, family and personal circumstances are also taken into account during the selection process. The Deutschlandstipendium is means-tested and is not counted towards BAföG. Anyone who has previously received a Deutschlandstipendium may apply again.
Ostfalia has been participating in the Deutschlandstipendium since the 2011/12 winter semester and has supported around 600 students with this funding since then. In 2025 alone, 30 students from all twelve faculties and all four campuses were awarded a Germany Scholarship. This funding is made possible by the joint commitment of the federal government and regional companies, foundations and other sponsors.
Apply by 31 August: Here’s how
Applications for the 2026/27 winter semester and the 2027 summer semester can be submitted until Monday, 31 August 2026, at 12 noon. Students should apply via the Ostfalia portal (external link, opens in a new window). Prospective students who will be studying at Ostfalia from the 2026/27 winter semester onwards will need their application number from their online application for a place at university. Important: Applications must be submitted online only. Once submitted, a confirmation of receipt will be displayed immediately as a PDF. It is essential that you save or print this, as no further confirmation will be sent by email and the confirmation of receipt cannot be reissued at a later date.
