Following the retirement of longstanding University Council Chair Paul-Werner Huppert, former Managing Director of MKN Maschinenfabrik K. Neubauer GmbH & Co, the University Council has elected Claudia Kayser, Head of the Wolfsburg branch of Volksbank BRAWO, as the new Chairwoman of the University Council. Prof. Dr. Joachim Block, former Head of the Braunschweig and Göttingen sites of the German Aerospace Centre (DLR), is Deputy Chair.
In addition to Huppert, Prof. Dr. Monika Gross, former President of Beuth University of Applied Sciences Berlin, and Ostfalia Professor Dr. Kai Litschen, Dean of the Faculty of Law, have also left the University Council.
The new members are: Tobias Henkel, Chairman of the Board of the Protestant Foundation Neuerkerode, André Koch, Director of Wolfsburg Hospital and Prof. Dr. Sandra-Verena Müller, Dean of the Faculty of Social Work at Ostfalia.
According to the law, the University Council consists of five external members from business, culture and society, who are appointed by the Lower Saxony Minister for Science and Culture in agreement with the university, one representative from the MWK and one university member elected by the Senate.
The tasks of the University Council include advising the Executive Board and Senate, commenting on development and business plans as well as on the founding of or investment in companies. The University Council is also involved in the conclusion of target agreements and the election of members of the Executive Board.
