Whether it’s electronic patient records, video consultations with GPs or a technical innovation designed to support care staff in their day-to-day work – many processes are being digitised; some make things easier straight away, but many also require new skills. How digitalisation is transforming the healthcare sector is the central theme of this year’s symposium at Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences on the Wolfsburg campus, which will take place on Friday 6 November from 1.45 pm to 5 pm.

The conference is being planned and organised by a student project group from the fifth semester of the ‘Healthcare Management’ degree programme. “Organising this symposium is an exciting task: deciding on the main theme, researching suitable topics, contacting the relevant experts and then coordinating the whole thing as a team. We’ve been able to gain a great deal of practical experience in the process,” says Feifei Wu. Her team-mate Maribel Löwegrün adds: “And now we’re looking forward to getting started and hope that the event will be well received. We see this event as a great forum for discussing the opportunities and challenges of digitalisation in healthcare. It’s sure to provide plenty of inspiration and encourage discussion.”

The students Amelie Sendzik, Maribel Löwegrün, Nahida Hassan and Feifei Wu have secured exciting contributions from experts in academia and the professional field for the programme.

Fynn Bergmann, Health Promotion and Health Management Officer at Audi BKK, will provide a practical perspective on the electronic patient record (ePA). Prof. Dr Bianca Steiner, Professor of Digitalisation in Healthcare at Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences, will speak on telemedicine – balancing innovation and patient empowerment. Prof. Dr Ilka Benner, Professor of Vocational Education, will provide an insight into current research at the Faculty of Health Sciences, drawing on the AI-PflegeFit research project. In addition to the presentations and discussions, two workshops will also be offered. Erpho Bell, a lecturer in vocational education and teaching development at the Faculty of Health Sciences’ Simulation Centre, will demonstrate AI tools that can be used to develop media for evaluation methods. Dr Maren Risch from the City of Wolfsburg’s Media Centre will provide a practical and participatory insight into the prototype of a mobile escape game designed to strengthen the media literacy of parents and children.

The symposium on Friday, 6 November 2026 will take place from 1.45 pm to 5 pm at the Wolfsburg Campus (Room G116), Poststraße 19. Attendance is free of charge. Please register in advance.
