WissensOrt Uelzen

A WissensOrt Uelzen (WOU) could become an innovative meeting place in Uelzen's city centre that promotes exchange between citizens, business and science. The idea behind this is to create a platform that enables knowledge exchange, collaboration and the development of sustainable solutions, while at the same time strengthening the attractiveness and vitality of the city centre.

A potential and feasibility analysis is being carried out as part of the current project. This forms the basis for possible implementation by the city and district and provides important impetus for the development of specific concepts and formats. The aim is to develop a concept that addresses the needs of the region and fully utilises the potential of the location.

Ostfalia researchers are currently analysing:

  • Needs and potential uses in Uelzen city centre.
  • Content-related links and opportunities for cooperation with regional partners from science, business and society.
  • Innovative formats that support the exchange of knowledge and the promotion of future-orientated working models.

The project, led by the ZEGI (Centre for Social Innovation), the WTT (Knowledge and Technology Transfer) and the Suderburg university location, also involves the Hanseatic city of Uelzen and the district of Uelzen in interdisciplinary cooperation.

  • Duration: 01.12.2024 - probably 31.08.2025
  • Project management: Prof. Dr Heinz-Dieter Quack
  • Funding organisation: The feasibility study is part of the pilot project within the „Zukunftsregionen in Niedersachsen“ (‘Future Regions in Lower Saxony’) guideline entitled „HeiDefinition – Ländlichkeit in neuen Dimensionen“ (‘HeiDefinition - Rurality in New Dimensions’) and is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (EFRE).
