WissensOrt Wolfenbüttel

The WissensOrt Wolfenbüttel (WOW!) (external link, opens in a new window) is a multifunctional space that brings together the exchange between university, business and society in the centre of the cityscape.

In an area of around 300m², various stakeholders from the region come together to share their individual knowledge in a sustainable way. In this way, the WOW! is intended to help link research and practice more closely and support the region in its sustainable transformation.

WOW! was founded as a result of a collaboration between Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences and the city of Wolfenbüttel. In addition to interactive themed months on topics such as mobility and digitalisation, specialist exhibitions, lectures, discussion panels and workshops form the interactive core of the project.

The objectives of this spatial collaboration include

  • Establishment of a publicly available event location in the city centre
  • Creation of an interactive contact point for networking between the university, city and population
  • Exchange between local stakeholders on social challenges
  • Introducing civil society knowledge to research

The Wolfenbüttel WissensOrt (WOW!) acts as a prototype for planned branches in Suderburg (Uelzen (external link, opens in a new window) ), Salzgitter and Wolfsburg. To ensure its long-term use and regional expansion, the WOW! will undergo a multi-year evaluation, the first comprehensive review of which will take place in summer 2026. The aim is to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative research approaches in the region. The WOW! steering committee, consisting of representatives from the city and Ostfalia, is responsible for this project.

As part of the project Transfer and Transformation (external link, opens in a new window) the WissensOrt Wolfenbüttel is being developed as a central measure to promote innovative concepts and formats.
