Your federal voluntary service in sport

Would you like to not only participate in sports but also organize sports classes and events? Not sure what you want to do after high school? Then a Federal Volunteer Service (BFD) in sports might be just the thing for you!

Every year, starting August 1 or September 1, we’re looking for someone to join the Federal Volunteer Service in Sports (m/f/d) at the Wolfenbüttel campus—for about 12 months full-time.

You’ll help plan and organize sports programs and events with around 90 coaches across the four Ostfalia campuses.

✅ Sports & events instead of a desk job
✅ Earn certifications and gain valuable hands-on experience
✅ Implement your own project and take on responsibility

The Federal Volunteer Service in Sports (and also the Voluntary Social Year) is for all sports enthusiasts in Lower Saxony who want to work in the sports sector. The program is organized in collaboration with ASC Göttingen von 1846 e.V. and Sportjugend Niedersachsen.

You can find more information in the job advertisement Federal Volunteer Service (external link, opens in a new window).

We are still accepting applications for 2026/2027.

Instruct sports courses

Our sports courses are usually led by students.

As a course leader, you will learn how to lead groups, take responsibility and organise independently. This experience will help you in your professional and private life.

You will fit in with us if you

  • are reliable and attentive,
  • have practical experience in your sport,
  • can supervise up to 20 participants well,
  • Resolve conflicts calmly,
  • Take on responsibility,
  • Can keep lists of participants,
  • Check participant status and rules,
  • sometimes drop by the university sports office spontaneously.

Training licences are an advantage, but not a must. A course usually takes place once a week and lasts one semester.

You work independently and are paid at the end of the course period.

Student or research assistant
