Institute for Vehicle Construction Wolfsburg (IFBW)

The Institute of Automotive Engineering Wolfsburg, IFBW for short, was founded in 1988 as a new location of the Braunschweig/Wolfenbüttel University of Applied Sciences in Wolfsburg. It is the first and therefore the oldest institute to be founded at a university of applied sciences in Germany.

At the IFBW, young engineers are trained in a practical and research-orientated way. The automotive industry is facing new challenges and tasks for future individual mobility under the social and legal framework conditions, for which we train our students not only in the classic technical subjects but also in the areas of business administration and human resources management. Another important part of the programme is the teaching of various presentation techniques and soft skills.

Research

The Institute of Automotive Engineering (IFBW) organises its research through a structure of specialised working groups, each focusing on different aspects of automotive engineering. Each working group is headed by an expert in their field and covers specific areas of research in modern vehicle construction.
