The Ostfalia career fair Expect! starts on 17 April Julia Hussendörfer from the Career Service team is the contact person for the organisation of the event on the Am Exer campus in Wolfenbüttel. In an interview with the Ostfalia editorial team, she explains why it's worth attending and what you need to do to do so.

Why Expect! now takes place every year

Vera Huber, Ostfalia editorial team: When did you become the contact person for the organisation of Expect!
Julia Hussendörfer : I have been the contact person since 2025 and organise the Ostfalia career fair Expect! together with a great team. The event had been paused for several years and last year we dared to restart it. The positive feedback convinced us to organise the fair on an annual basis. That's why we are now looking forward to organising an attractive and exciting event for trade fair visitors and companies for the second time.

What is the highest praise you have received from a company for the event?
Julia Hussendörfer : The greatest praise is when companies say after the fair that they would definitely like to take part again next year, citing reasons such as very good organisation, a very nice, committed team, lots of fun and many very interesting discussions. Feedback like this shows us that we are on the right track and of course motivates us to improve the fair every year.

Companies, graduates and students get talking at Expect!

Why else can you recommend the event?
Julia Hussendörfer : Expect! offers companies the unique opportunity to talk directly to highly motivated students and graduates of the university in an informal atmosphere. In addition to the personal exchange, exhibitors benefit from a professionally organised trade fair that is tailored precisely to the needs of companies, students and graduates. Visitors can not only have exciting discussions at the company stands, but can also gain new inspiration from a varied supporting programme. With this overall concept, we want to ensure that everyone involved has a successful and completely satisfying trade fair experience at the end of the day.

How companies can still register for Expect! now

What do companies need to plan for participation and what are the first steps?
Julia Hussendörfer : At the moment, there are still a few places available for the trade fair. 42 companies have already registered, so it's worth getting in touch with us as soon as possible if you're interested - ideally by sending an email to expect(at)ostfalia.de (opens your email program). The next steps are then very straightforward: Interested parties get in touch with us, we discuss the individual requirements together and reserve a suitable stand. We also keep the participating companies continuously informed about the current planning status. Transparent and personal communication is particularly important to us, as this allows everyone involved to prepare for the trade fair in the best possible way.

Have fun and take away positive things for your own future

What highlights can participants expect?
Julia Hussendörfer : All participants - both companies and trade fair visitors - can expect a varied day at the fair. Visitors can talk directly at the company stands, listen to exciting presentations, have application photos taken, have their application folders checked and find out more about careers at various information stands. There will also be plenty to eat and drink, with various food trucks for visitors and all-day catering for exhibitors.

Would you like to add anything in conclusion?
Julia Hussendörfer: Our primary goal is to organise a fair that is fun for everyone and encourages personal interaction - a day on which all participants gain exciting insights, make new contacts and experience the topic of careers and career entry in a lively and relaxed way, so that at the end of the day everyone can take away something positive for their own future.
