What happens when modern plastics are subjected to mechanical stress?
A new episode of the science podcast "Einfach Forschung" is dedicated to this question.

The guest is Prof Dr Bülent Yagimli, professor at the Ostfalia site in Wolfenbüttel. In the episode, he reports on his current research into plastics technology and provides insights into his scientific work at Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences.

At the centre of the conversation are

  • the mechanical properties of plastics,
  • established and new test methods in plastics research,
  • the curing processes for plastics and
  • the service life of elastomer components.

Prof Yagimli will also explain how scientific findings are made and why sometimes an everyday moment, such as a cup of coffee, can lead to a decisive eureka moment.

Research at the Ostfalia in Wolfenbüttel

At the Wolfenbüttel campus, Prof. Yagimli is researching the material behaviour of plastics under mechanical stress. The results are particularly important for applications in mechanical engineering, industry and materials technology.
