The world is facing many new challenges and social upheavals, while at the same time people are experiencing individual upheavals and life crises - experts will talk about how courage can become a decisive resource in this context at the 12th Ostfalia public discussion series "Happiness and a fulfilled life", focussing on the topic of courage.

Prof. Dr Mike Hoffmeister, Professor at the Faculty of Business and Happiness Researcher, organises the annual series of talks in cooperation with the Wolfsburg Health Region and the Rotary Club Gifhorn Wolfsburg. "With this series of talks, we want to inspire people to actively shape their lives, even if it is sometimes difficult, and give them the opportunity to network," explains Hoffmeister. Scientific studies and practical experiences are regularly discussed at the various focal events in the series.

This time, Thomas Achim Werner, Elke Katharina Meyer and Frank Nesemann from Positivity Guides GbR and Cécile Meyer-Bartsch, Head of Human Resources at Mölders Holding GmbH, will provide impetus on the topic of positive leadership. Thorsten Schildgen will talk about a way out of German Angst from a coaching perspective.

In the subsequent panel discussion, moderated by event initiator and happiness researcher Prof Dr Mike Hoffmeister, Spiegel bestselling author Franziska Hohmann, Dr Christian Biegus and Tsepo Jama from BeYourOwnHero (speaking from South Africa) will talk about the courage to break new ground and give examples of successful new beginnings in difficult times.

The event will take place on Tuesday, 21 April 2026, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Ostfalia Audimax at the Wolfsburg campus, Robert-Koch-Platz 5. The subsequent get-together will run until 9.30 pm in the foyer of the Audimax. Admission to the event is free, registration for the series of talks and the get-together is not required. At the event, the Rotary Club Gifhorn Wolfsburg will be collecting voluntary donations for disadvantaged children and young people in the region and South Africa. The event is also available as a livestream.
