Press Release ,

The "Sustainable Ostfalia" (NachOs) project at Ostfalia invites you to exciting lectures on the Wolfenbüttel campus.

Under the motto "Discover your future spirit!", the "Sustainable Ostfalia" (NachOs) project of Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences invites you to a public lecture series on the Wolfenbüttel campus in the winter semester 2025/26. The lecture series will start on Wednesday, 8 October 2025 on "Sustainability Day" with a Green Ostfalia Special on the topic of "Sustainable university research" with Ostfalia researchers Prof. Dr Elke Wilharm, Prof. Dr Lars Kühl and Prof. Dr Andreas Ligocki. The kick-off in lecture theatre A will last from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be supplemented by student events in the cafeteria.

The following Thursday, 9 October, at 5.30 p.m., Prof. Dr Niko Paech (University of Siegen) will kick off the regular evening events of the lecture series in the auditorium with a lecture on the topic of "Sustainability in the field of tension between green growth and de-growth". After that, the lecture series will generally take place every Wednesday at 5.30 pm in the auditorium on campus in Wolfenbüttel.

"We want to offer our audience a wide range of ideas and impulses for actively shaping a sustainable future and at the same time promote dialogue," says Matthias Dickel, specialist for sustainability communication in the NachOs team. In addition to experts from the field - including entrepreneur Lucie Töpfer and Lisa Vieweg from Google - academics such as Prof. Dr Jacob Hörisch (Leuphana University of Lüneburg) and Prof. Dr Anabel Ternès von Hattburg (SRH University) are also part of the programme. A double lecture by Ostfalia professors Jan Büchsenschuß and Christoph Menzel is also planned, who will present their visions for sustainable urban and transport development to the audience. The lecture series also includes two theme days of the Green Ostfalia campus fair on the topics of "Sustainable university research" and "Green IT". Various activities by student supporters of the NachOs project will complement the lecture programme.

The sustainability lecture series usually takes place on Wednesdays from 17:30 to 19:30 in the auditorium on the Wolfenbüttel campus of Ostfalia University, Salzdahlumer Straße 46/48. Participation is possible spontaneously, but informal registration by e-mail to nachhaltigkeit@ostfalia.de (opens your email program) is requested.
